"SOS and Rivers Alive Host Satilla River Waycross Cleanup" Waycross Journal-Herald, Wednesday, June 18, 2003 On Saturday morning the "Save Our Satilla" group in conjunction with the "Rivers Alive" organization held a river cleanup at the boat ramp on the Satilla River at the Waycross-Blackshear bridge near here. Trash was collected from both the boat ramp and the Satilla river below the bridge. A total of 24 people participated in the cleanup and were mainly from Brantley County, with several Waycross folks helping also. A total of 77 bags of trash were collected along with assorted car parts, old tires, and other debris that had been discarded in the vicinity of the landing. Special thanks goes to the Waycross DNR / WRD Fisheries Division personnel for their outstanding effort in helping with the cleanup and to Richard Lee, of Southland Waste Systems, for generously providing an industrial dumpster for the group.
